Współpraca
Partnership in all editions of the project: Leon Kozminski Prague Foundation for Science and Culture, later called the Kozminski Foundation

Kozminski University is one of the higher education institutions with the highest rate of internationalisation in Poland. Foreigners account for 30% of all full-time students at the university, representing 57 nationalities. The direct beneficiaries of the project are students – foreigners who are not citizens of the European Union and who are holders of a document entitling them to stay and remain permanently in the territory of Poland for at least 12 months. The strategic goal of all editions of the project was to create structures enabling them to actively integrate and adapt to living in Polish society.

The project put a lot of emphasis on improving the Polish language skills of its participants, with particular focus on the practical use of the language. The participants could also choose from a wide range of workshops on the knowledge of Polish culture and history, as well as classes improving their level of knowledge and practical skills useful in dealing with any legal or administrative issues they could face during their stay in our country. An important element of the project was the creation of a Collaboration Platform enabling the exchange of experiences and mutual learning between foreigners and Polish students. As part of the initiative, we organised – and still organise – discussion clubs, orientation/team-building events, and gatherings to work together on specific tasks.

Foreign students participating in the project usually report that taking part in the project has made them feel more integrated into the local community, boosted their level of self-confidence, and let them feel more natural in the Polish social reality. Polish students, on the other hand, emphasise their better understanding of similarities and differences between their fellow students of different nationalities, and a growing desire to further explore certain cultures which they have become familiar with as part of the “Get to Know Us, Get to Know Yourself” project.
