Energy for inflation. Will the energy transition accelerate inflation?

On May 18, within the walls of Kozminski University, the conference "Energy for Inflation. Will the energy transition accelerate inflation?". The event was organized by Energy for a new world - Research Centre and the Institute of Finance.

The meeting was opened by Professor Bartlomiej Nowak, Council Member of the Energy for a new world center. Then Prof. Jacek Tomkiewicz, Member of the Center's Council, introduced the topic of the meeting to the numerous participants.

The transition of the Polish economy to use more and more green energy is underway. Leading companies in the energy and industrial sectors are already implementing and planning further investments aimed at greater use of renewable sources and modern, low-carbon technologies. In doing so, there is no shortage of challenges, as the energy transition brings with it expenditures that translate into energy generation and distribution costs. To what extent is the supply shock in energy markets caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine responsible for the rise in inflation? Have the adjustment processes both at the geopolitical level and at the companies, deferred the risk of future destabilization of the economic situation? Will the costs of the energy transition be passed on to consumers?   These questions, among others, were answered by invited business representatives and energy sector experts: - Wanda Buk, PGE - Prof. Grzegorz Tchorek, Energy Institute - Prof. Łukasz Jabłoński, Institute of Finance - Krzysztof Kieres, Chairman of the Association of Cement Producers.  The debate was moderated by Maciej Malicki, Air Liquide Poland.
